RICED focuses on supporting the target community in engaging in initiatives that are geared towards achieving food security. Under this program, RICED focuses on building capacity of target community to increase their farm production through application of agro-ecological farming practices; application of locally tested and accepted farming technologies. Capacity building training focus on organic farming, agroforestry and soil and water management. Training on proper seed and produce storage are conducted to enable farmers achieve seed security which is key to attaining food security.
RICED also focuses on material support in terms of tools and equipment that enable farmers to boost their farm productivity; reduce post-harvest losses; conduct on-farm water harvesting among others. This does not only support the community members achieve food security but also improve their incomes and overall community well being.
